Tips for Developing a Skin Care Routine

Knowing what to do to get a radiant skin can at times be confusing. That is why there are plenty of different products, recommendations and suggestions available online and in cosmetic shops. The following are some of the tips for developing a skin care routine. If followed routinely, it will result in improvement of the skin appearance and health.

Skin Care Routine

Do not touch your face

This is a very important first step. This is because by touching your face with your hands, you might transfer the different types of bacteria that your hand picks from different surfaces. A simple touch is enough to transfer thousands of bacteria that might be harmful to the cells of the facial skin. Presence of dirt in the facial pores might result in unattractive pimples. You should therefore ensure that your hands are clean before touching your face. Alternatively, you could use paper that is oil absorbent to wipe your face.

Determine your skin type

Determine the type of your facial skin and then buy facial products that suit that specific skin type. This is one of the most important tips of developing a skin care routine because in the event that you buy inappropriate skin products, they will have little or no effect on your skin at all. In fact it may worsen the situation. Determine whether your skin is normal, dry or oily. There are also sensitive and combination skin types. Buy products that fit your skin type for better results.

Always have a cleanser, exfoliant, toner, face mask and moisturizer

When establishing a skin care routine, it is important for one to have a toner, exfoliant, moisturizer, face mask and cleanser. Unless your skin is extremely sensitive, using the normal products will not do any harm to the skin. Do not use products that are usually recommended for harsh conditions as these products might irritate your skin. Opt for products that are gentle that will remove excess oils from your face and promote healthier good looking skin. For instance, if your feel some soreness or dryness after cleansing, then it means that you should change your facial wash.

Do cleansing, toning and moisturizing twice daily

Cleanse, tone and then moisturize your skin twice daily. This should be done in the morning before you wear your make up and in the evening just before you go to bed. This enables your skin to breath and regenerate as opposed to being clogged by make up or dirt accumulated during the day. Plenty of clean water should be used so as to wash away all the dirt effectively.

Use an exfoliating facial wash to exfoliate your skin at least twice weekly. Use an exfoliant that is not so harsh so as to prevent your skin from dryness or soreness. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells that if not removed could make your skin look dull.

Regular application of a face mask

For a good looking skin, you should try to apply a facemask at least two times a week. There are different types of face masks. For blemished skins, peel off masks work best, whereas for dry skin, moisturizing masks are the best.
